Whether you are a first-time trekker with good fitness or an experienced mountain lover, our Everest Base Camp package gives you the ideal balance of acclimatization, comfort, local guidance, and Himalayan exploration.

Trip Overview
The Everest Base Camp Trek package begins with a scenic mountain flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, the gateway to the Everest region. From Lukla, the trail follows the Dudh Koshi River through famous villages like Phakding, Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Dingboche, Lobuche, and Gorakshep before reaching Everest Base Camp (5,364 m). A sunrise hike to Kala Patthar (5,545 m) offers one of the finest close-up views of Mount Everest, Nuptse, Pumori, Lhotse, and the surrounding Himalayan giants.

This trek is more than just a hike to Everest Base Camp. It is an immersive journey into the homeland of the Sherpa people, where Buddhist culture, prayer flags, mani walls, monasteries, and mountain hospitality create a unique trekking experience. Along the way, trekkers pass through Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site rich in alpine wildlife, glacier valleys, and dramatic mountain scenery.

Our package includes a carefully designed itinerary with proper acclimatization days in Namche Bazaar and Dingboche, helping you adapt to the altitude safely while still enjoying the adventure. With experienced guides, logistical support, and quality service from Travers Nepal, this package is ideal for travelers seeking a memorable Everest journey.

Accommodation During the Everest Base Camp Trek
Accommodation on the Everest Base Camp Trek is mainly in local teahouses and mountain lodges. Rooms are generally simple twin-sharing rooms with beds, pillows, and blankets. In lower elevations, the lodges are more comfortable, while in higher places such as Lobuche and Gorakshep, facilities become more basic due to the remote environment.

Teahouses usually provide a communal dining hall where trekkers eat, relax, and warm themselves near a stove in the evening. Attached bathrooms may be available in some lower villages, but shared bathrooms are common throughout much of the trek.

In Kathmandu, accommodation is generally arranged in a comfortable tourist-standard hotel before and after the trek.

Meals on the Trek
Meals are an important part of maintaining energy and health on the Everest Base Camp Trek. Most teahouses offer a wide variety of dishes, including:
1)Dal Bhat
2)Fried rice
3)Noodles
4)Pasta
5)Soups
6)Potatoes
7)Pancakes
8)Eggs
9)Bread and tea/coffee
Our package includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner during the trek. We recommend eating well, drinking plenty of water, and avoiding alcohol at higher altitudes. Dal Bhat is a favorite among trekkers because it is nutritious, filling, and usually refillable.

Everest Base Camp Trek Difficulty
The Everest Base Camp Trek is considered moderate to challenging. It does not require technical climbing skills, but it does demand good physical fitness, mental determination, and the ability to walk for multiple days at high altitude.
Trekkers should be prepared for:
1)Walking 5–8 hours per day
2)Consecutive trekking days
3)Rocky and uneven mountain trails
4)Cold temperatures, especially in the mornings and nights
5)High altitude above 5,000 meters
6)Basic accommodation in remote areas
The most challenging aspect of the trek is usually altitude, not the trail itself. That is why acclimatization days and proper pacing are extremely important.

Altitude Sickness and Acclimatization
Altitude sickness can affect anyone, regardless of age or fitness level. As you ascend higher, oxygen levels decrease, and your body needs time to adapt. Common symptoms of altitude sickness include headache, nausea, dizziness, fatigue, shortness of breath, and difficulty sleeping.

Our Everest Base Camp Trek itinerary includes two important acclimatization days in Namche Bazaar and Dingboche to help reduce the risk of altitude-related illness. We strongly recommend:
1)Walking slowly and steadily
2)Drinking enough water
3)Avoiding alcohol and smoking
4)Eating nutritious meals
5)Reporting any symptoms to your guide immediately
6)Carrying proper travel insurance with helicopter evacuation coverage
Safety is a top priority at Travers Nepal, and our guides monitor trekkers carefully throughout the journey.

Best Time for Everest Base Camp Trek
The best time to do the Everest Base Camp Trek is during spring and autumn.

Spring (March to May)
Spring is one of the most popular seasons for trekking to Everest Base Camp. The weather is relatively stable, the skies are often clear, and the temperatures are moderate compared to winter. Rhododendron forests bloom in the lower sections, and the mountains look spectacular.

Autumn (September to November)
Autumn is another excellent season for the EBC trek. The monsoon rains clear the dust and pollution, leaving fresh air, crisp mountain views, and stable trekking conditions. This is often considered the best overall trekking season in Nepal.

Winter (December to February)
Winter trekking is possible, but temperatures can be extremely cold at higher elevations. Trails are quieter, but snow and freezing conditions can make the trek more challenging.

Monsoon (June to August)
The monsoon season brings rain, cloud cover, slippery trails, and possible flight disruptions. While some trekkers still travel in this season, spring and autumn remain the preferred months.

Permits Required for Everest Base Camp Trek
Trekkers need the following permits for the Everest Base Camp Trek:
1. Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit
This permit is required to enter the protected area of Sagarmatha National Park, where much of the trek takes place.

2. Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Permit
This local permit is required for trekkers entering the Khumbu region.
Travers Nepal arranges all necessary permits for clients as part of the trekking package.

Transportation for the EBC Trek
The standard Everest Base Camp Trek package includes a Kathmandu–Lukla–Kathmandu flight. Lukla is the main gateway to the Everest region, and the flight is an adventure in itself due to the mountain setting and short runway.

Please note that flights to Lukla can sometimes be delayed or rescheduled due to weather conditions. Travelers should keep a buffer day in Nepal if possible, especially during busy trekking seasons.

Who Can Join This Trek?
This Everest Base Camp Trek package is suitable for:
1)Adventure travelers looking for a classic Himalayan trek
2)First-time trekkers with good fitness and strong motivation
3)Experienced trekkers seeking one of the world’s most iconic routes
4)Solo travelers, couples, friends, and private groups
5)Photographers and nature lovers
6)Travelers interested in Sherpa culture and mountain lifestyle

If you can walk for several hours a day and prepare well in advance, you can successfully complete the Everest Base Camp Trek.

How to Prepare for Everest Base Camp Trek
Preparation plays a major role in making your Everest Base Camp journey successful and enjoyable. We recommend beginning your physical preparation at least 6–8 weeks before the trek.
Good preparation includes:
1)Regular walking, hiking, or stair climbing
2)Cardio training such as jogging, cycling, or swimming
3)Strengthening legs, core, and endurance
4)Practicing with a backpack
5)Breaking in trekking boots before the trip
6)Learning about altitude, weather, and mountain trekking conditions
A positive mindset, patience, and flexibility are just as important as physical training.

Important Note

Travel Insurance
Travel insurance ismandatory and highly recommended for the Everest Base Camp Trek. Trekking in the Everest region takes you to remote high-altitude areas where weather, health, and flight operations can change quickly. A comprehensive insurance policy gives you financial protection and peace of mind in case of emergencies during the trip.

Your insurance should cover high-altitude trekking up to at least 5,545 meters, which is the elevation of Kala Patthar, the highest point of this trek. It should also include emergency medical treatment, hospitalization, trip interruption, lost baggage, flight delays, and most importantly helicopter evacuation from the Everest region in case of severe altitude sickness, injury, or any medical emergency.

We strongly advise all trekkers to purchase travel insurancebefore arriving in Nepal and to carry both a digital and printed copy of the policy during the trek. Please make sure you read your policy carefully and confirm that trekking in Nepal above 5,000 meters is fully covered, including helicopter rescue and emergency evacuation costs. In the mountains, rescue operations and medical transportation can be very expensive without insurance, so proper coverage is essential for a safe Everest Base Camp adventure.

Altitude Sickness
Altitude sickness is one of the most important things to understand before joining the Everest Base Camp Trek. Since this trek takes you above 5,000 meters, the body needs time to adjust to the thinner air and lower oxygen level at high altitude. Even fit and experienced trekkers can feel the effects of altitude, so the key is to trek slowly, stay hydrated, and follow a proper acclimatization schedule.

Common symptoms ofAcute Mountain Sickness (AMS) may include headache, nausea, dizziness, loss of appetite, unusual fatigue, shortness of breath, and difficulty sleeping. In more serious cases, symptoms can worsen if ignored. That is why our Everest Base Camp itinerary includes important acclimatization days in Namche Bazaar and Dingboche, allowing your body to adapt gradually before moving higher.

At Travers Nepal, your safety comes first. Our trekking guides monitor trekkers closely throughout the journey and will advise on pacing, hydration, and rest. If any symptoms of altitude sickness appear, it is very important to inform your guide immediately. In the mountains, early action is the best prevention. We always recommend drinking plenty of water, avoiding alcohol, eating properly, and walking at a steady pace rather than rushing. A flexible mindset and respect for altitude are essential parts of a successful Everest Base Camp Trek.

Weather Condition, Lukla Flight & Buffer Days
Weather plays a major role in the Everest Base Camp Trek, especially because the journey depends on flights to and from Lukla, one of the most weather-sensitive mountain airports in Nepal. Conditions in the Himalayas can change rapidly, and cloud cover, wind, rain, or poor visibility may cause flight delays or cancellations. For this reason, trekkers should always plan with flexibility and allow extra time in Nepal after the trek.

During the main trekking seasons, especially spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November), Lukla flights are often operated via Ramechhap Airport instead of Kathmandu due to heavy air traffic. In such cases, trekkers usually leave Kathmandu in the middle of the night or around 2:00 AM for the drive to Ramechhap in order to catch an early morning flight to Lukla. This is a normal part of peak-season Everest travel and helps manage flight schedules more efficiently. If your departure is scheduled via Ramechhap, our team will provide all timing and transport details in advance.

Although spring and autumn are the best seasons for the Everest Base Camp Trek because of clearer skies, stable weather, and excellent mountain views, delays can still happen. For this reason, we strongly recommend keeping at least 1–2 extra buffer days after the trek before your international flight home. These buffer days are especially important in case Lukla flights are delayed due to weather or operational reasons. If you have a tight travel schedule and your return flight from Lukla is postponed, buffer days can save you from unnecessary stress, missed international connections, and extra expenses.

In general, springoffers moderate temperatures, blooming rhododendron forests, and a lively trekking atmosphere, while autumn is known for crisp mountain views, stable weather, and some of the best trekking conditions in Nepal. Winter treks are possible but colder, and monsoon season brings rain, clouds, and a higher chance of flight disruption. No matter which season you choose, mountain travel in the Everest region always requires patience, flexibility, and a little extra time in your overall itinerary.

Breakfast

Early in the morning, we take a flight to Lukla. During the peak trekking season, the flights use to be highly occupied, and schedules are very tight. We must have to catch an early flight for a better start. And take breakfast at Lukla as well.

During the peak season, to avoid traffic issues, regular flights to Lukla are used to schedule from Manthali Airport, Ramechap. In such a situation, we even wake every morning to reach Manthali for an early flight. Manthali to Lukla flight goes for around 20 minutes.

It takes around 4 hours of drive to reach the Manthali Airport from Kathmandu. The 25-30 min flight will be very awesome with insane aerial views of the diverse geography, terrains, hills, basin, river valleys, farmlands, cities, countryside, and mostly the mountains.

After landing in Lukla, we take our first mountain breakfast and prepare the backpacks and continue to trek. The Porters/ remaining crew members will join us here in Lukla before we kick out our Everest Trek.

We descend to the bank of River Dudh Koshi passing through the Chaurikharka. Phakding, the small settlement of the sherpa people, will come on the way and we take a break here overnight.

After Breakfast, we begin to ascend through the lush rhododendron forest and reach Monjo. At the very beginning of the trekking, we cross the suspension bridge over the River Dudh Koshi.

It takes around 2 hours of average ascends through lush rhododendron, oak, junipers, and pine forests before approaching Monjo. We will see the prayer flags tied on the rock and small stupas on the way.

Monjo is the Entrance of the Sagarmatha National Park, the UNESCO World Heritage Site listed for the importance of the endemic and rare Himalayan species of floras and faunas and the importance of the global ecosystem.

After the formalities/ checking by the forest and national park guards and Armies, we enter the Sagarmatha National Park. The Monjo offers a great glance of the staring Mt. Thamserku. After a while of trekking, we reach Jhorsale where we take our lunch.

After about 45 mins of hiking from Jhorsale, we reach the one of longest suspension bridges named Hillary Bridge. The river point underneath the suspension is the junction of the Bhote Koshi and Dudh Koshi.

Crossing the bridge, we again take a little vigorous ascend till approach the beautiful Sherpa village of Namche Bazar. The hard climb rewards the very beautiful sight of Mt. Everest and that will surely relieve your stress and tired.

It’s always good to add an acclimatization day when you are at an elevation above 3000m from sea level. It allows our body and health to adjust to the sudden change in elevation, weather, and oxygen level.

We must climb almost 1000 meters to reach Namche Bazar and experts recommend acclimatizing to elevation in every 1000m of climb. Considering the elevation, we spend a day here in Namche Bazar and explore the surroundings as well as hike nearby Everest Viewpoint.

Everest View Point or Hotel Everest View is one of the most popular and famous places in the Everest Region/Khumbu Region. The View Point has an astounding glance at Mt. Everest and neighboring mountains such as Thamserku, Kongde, Kusum Kanguru, and Nuptse stood high one after another.

It takes only an hour in max to reach there from Namche Bazar. The Hotel Everest View is the world Highest Placed Star hotel and a gunnies world record holder for that as well. Take a cup of tea or coffee and sit in front of the almighty Mt. Everest! This is what we call the glories of Everest Trekking.

We also explore the capital city of the Khumbu Region- the Namche Bazar. This is the largest market and settlement in the entire Khumbu region and the biggest shopping hub for Everest Travelers and trekkers.

We visit the explore the marketplace, buy some items if we need and forgot to take them before. We interact and communicate with the local people who are so kind and frank with the visitors.

The segment of trekking from Namche to Tengboche is one of the best parts of Everest Trekking and the most scenic as well. The numerous mountain vistas, landscapes, and glimpses of the Himalayan range are so mesmerizing.

Throughout the whole day, we have very great mountain views and landscapes spreading around the Khumbu Region.

After having breakfast at Namche Bazar, we continue our hiking. We cross the small Sherpa Villages, Stupas and Monasteries, Chortens, Mani walls, and Prayer Flags tied over the routes, and pass out the rhododendrons, pines, oaks, junipers, and many other alpine floras.

Remember it is one of the biggest National Parks in Nepal and we may have a chance to encounter some of the rare and endemic Himalayan wild animals.

Walking through the glacial of the River Dudh Koshi, we have great views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, and many Others. Especially, the Ama Dablam is so iconic and majestic to admire during this segment of Everest Trekking.

The Very beginning of the day trek is very easy for around 1 and a half hours before descending to level the Imja Khola where we take our lunch. After a while, we again ascend the uphill route to approach the Tengboche where we spend a night.

Tengboche is another popular village in the Everest region and equally the best to explore the sherpa culture and history. The Tengboche Monastery is the most popular and one of the biggest monasteries in the entire Khumbu region and the center of the sherpa people faint and beliefs as well.

We visit the monastery and wish we can get the blessing of the Buddhist monk. Having a bit of luck, we may meet Lama Rinpoche who is the biggest monk in Buddhism.

We pass the moraines and some stoned memorials in memory of the climbers and trekkers deceased on different mountain expeditions and climbing.

Crossing the Imja Khola Suspension bridge, we reach one of the large settlements namely Pangboche. The uphill ascends from here take us to a small settlement of fancy cafes and bakeries.

The trail becomes drier, rugged, deserted, and open. We come closer to the mountains, and they start to appear with their gigantic looks. We then reach Dingboche where we spend a night.

Another milestone! Another likely 800 meters of climbing and it’s time to acclimatize to the elevation and new atmosphere. Dingboche is one of the popular places in Everest trekking and memorable too as Tenzing Norge Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary step their first step for Everest Summit.

Here in Dingboche we spend a day for acclimatization and exploring the surrounding and nearby peaks.

We hike the nearby peak called Nangkartshang, 5,083m. it takes around 3 hours to reach the viewpoint. The Nangkartsang viewpoint offers an excellent aerial of the several peaks in the Everest ranges and the gigantic Lhotse, Nuptse, and other snowcapped peaks.

Especially, the iconic look of the Ama Dablam, the island peak, Imja valley, and Chukung valley make an incredibly picturesque scene. After the descent, we explore the Dingboche Village. Interact and connect with the locals.

It will be very nice to learn and understand their history, bravery, and ability to survive in the highland. Don’t forget to get tips from them to skill yourself.

From here the trekking trail becomes more tough and challenging compared to the previous segment. A thinner oxygen level means more tiredness and more energy consumption.

Passing the grazing lands, we join the uphill sloppy ascends and continue to walk through the ridge line, the shoulder of the Pheriche.

The environment here is different from the previous days and the terrain suddenly becomes wider open and wilder. We get a great picture of the Tawache, Cholatse, Lobuche, and iconic Ama Dablam on the way.

We take our lunch at the bank ofslopy landscapes the Khumbu Glacier. Another 1hr of hiking brought us to the Sherpa memorial place namely Thukla pass, 4,800m. Several Stone-made memorials in the memories of the sherpa expeditors and climbers are built over here.

From here the gradual and even track brings us to Lobuche, the side of the Khumbu Glacier. The route will be rocky, and slippery due to melting snow during summer and snow-covered during autumn.

Reaching the Lobuche during the clear sky before sunset allows majestic shades of the evening. Taking dinner early, we get to bed early for perfect sleep for tomorrow’s early morning hike.

This is the most awaited and one of the long segments of the EB Trek. We kick the day very early in the morning for the glory of this trekking. We begin with a soft walk up to the Gorek Shep.

Then after, we take the uphill routes and go along the Khumbu Glacier until the Everest Base Camp. This part will be rocky and craggy. It takes about 3 hours to reach Gorek Shep where we take our meal and continue with glacier/ moraine to reach our much-awaited destination.

On the way, we have great views of the Khumbu Icefall and a glimpse of the tipping Everest. The clouds and fogs under the neath separate the snowcapped mountains from the lower alpine greeneries.

We meet the number of climbers attempting Everest and Lhotse Summit. About 3 hours of trekking along the glaciers brings us to the Everest Base Camp. We can see the numerous tent and camps for mountain climbers.

The close-up views of the gigantic and almighty mt Everest standing tall in front of us from the EBC is what weare giving our all effort in the EBC trek.

Imagine the moment. Residing in the lap of the world’s tallest mountains and admiring its glory. It’s the memories no one can explain in the words. After a while in Everest Base Camp, we step back and return to Gorek Shep where we spend a night before diverting our route for another Milestone.

I would be happy to write a review of my Everest Base Camp Trek experience with Travers Nepal. Firstly, I would like to say that Travers Nepal exceeded my expectations in every way. From the moment I landed in Kathmandu, I was warmly welcomed by their team, who made sure that all my needs were taken care of throughout the entire trek. Our guide, Tashi, was incredibly knowledgeable and experienced, and he made sure that we were safe and comfortable throughout the trek. He was always available to answer any questions we had and to provide us with interesting information about the local culture and the Himalayan mountains. The trek itself was absolutely stunning. The scenery was breathtaking, and I felt as though I was in another world as I hiked through the mountains. The trails were well-maintained and safe, and I never once felt uncomfortable or uncertain. The accommodations along the way were also fantastic. We stayed in comfortable teahouses that provided warm beds and hot meals, which were especially appreciated after a long day of hiking. More Than a Trek - A Life-Changing Journey with Traverse Nepal

From the moment I first emailed Traverse Nepal, I knew I was in good hands. Their responsiveness, attention to detail, and willingness to answer my endless questions were outstanding. But nothing could have prepared me for the incredible experience they delivered. The entire trek was flawlessly organized. The pre-trek briefing in Kathmandu was comprehensive, and our head guide, Kumar, was not just a guide but a true mentor and friend. His knowledge of the mountains, the Sherpa culture, and the local flora and fauna was profound. He set a perfect, steady pace, emphasizing the importance of acclimatization, which was key to our entire group reaching Base Camp safely and without any altitude issues. The porters were absolute heroes—strong, cheerful, and always ensuring our bags were waiting for us at the teahouses. The team at Traverse Nepal treats their staff with immense respect (which is so important), and it shows in their positive attitude. The trek itself is as breathtaking as you imagine. Standing at Kala Patthar as the sun illuminated Everest was a spiritual moment I will never forget. The lodges were carefully chosen for their comfort and amazing hospitality, providing a warm refuge after long days of hiking. What sets Traverse Nepal apart is their genuine care for their clients. When I had a minor headache one afternoon, Kumar was immediately there with advice and checking on me constantly. They don't just sell a package; they curate an experience and ensure you are safe, informed, and happy every step of the way. If you are dreaming of Everest Base Camp, look no further. Traverse Nepal is a professional, ethical, and incredibly passionate company. This wasn't just a vacation; it was one of the most significant achievements of my life, and I have Traverse Nepal to thank for making it possible. I will 100% be booking my Annapurna Circuit trek with them in the future.
