This unforgettable trekking adventure combines culture, scenery, challenge, and achievement into one of the best trekking experiences in the world.

At Travers Nepal, we offer a well-planned 14-day Everest Base Camp Trek package designed for trekkers who want a safe, authentic, and rewarding Himalayan adventure. From the thrilling flight to Lukla to the panoramic sunrise view from Kala Patthar, every day of this trek brings you closer to the heart of the Everest region.

Whether you are a first-time trekker with good fitness or an experienced mountain lover, our Everest Base Camp package gives you the ideal balance of acclimatization, comfort, local guidance, and Himalayan exploration.

Trip Overview
The Everest Base Camp Trek package begins with a scenic mountain flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, the gateway to the Everest region. From Lukla, the trail follows the Dudh Koshi River through famous villages like Phakding, Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Dingboche, Lobuche, and Gorakshep before reaching Everest Base Camp (5,364 m). A sunrise hike to Kala Patthar (5,545 m) offers one of the finest close-up views of Mount Everest, Nuptse, Pumori, Lhotse, and the surrounding Himalayan giants.

This trek is more than just a hike to Everest Base Camp. It is an immersive journey into the homeland of the Sherpa people, where Buddhist culture, prayer flags, mani walls, monasteries, and mountain hospitality create a unique trekking experience. Along the way, trekkers pass through Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site rich in alpine wildlife, glacier valleys, and dramatic mountain scenery.

Our package includes a carefully designed itinerary with proper acclimatization days in Namche Bazaar and Dingboche, helping you adapt to the altitude safely while still enjoying the adventure. With experienced guides, logistical support, and quality service from Travers Nepal, this package is ideal for travelers seeking a memorable Everest journey.

Accommodation During the Everest Base Camp Trek
Accommodation on the Everest Base Camp Trek is mainly in local teahouses and mountain lodges. Rooms are generally simple twin-sharing rooms with beds, pillows, and blankets. In lower elevations, the lodges are more comfortable, while in higher places such as Lobuche and Gorakshep, facilities become more basic due to the remote environment.

Teahouses usually provide a communal dining hall where trekkers eat, relax, and warm themselves near a stove in the evening. Attached bathrooms may be available in some lower villages, but shared bathrooms are common throughout much of the trek.

In Kathmandu, accommodation is generally arranged in a comfortable tourist-standard hotel before and after the trek.

Accommodations Look Like

Twin-Sharing Rooms: Standard wooden trekkers' lodges with two single beds, clean mattresses, and pillows. (Private rooms available in Lukla/Phakding/Namche/Dingbochbe).

The Dining Experience: Fully heated central dining rooms where all meals are served hot.
ServiceEstimated CostNotes
🚿 Hot Showers$3 to $7 USD / showerGas or solar-powered; prices rise with altitude.
🔌 Device Charging$2 to $5 USD / deviceElectricity is scarce up high; we recommend a 20K mAh power bank.
🌐 Wi-Fi & Data$5 to $7 USDProvided via local Everest Link prepaid cards.
Fueling Your Journey: Meals on the Trail
High-altitude trekking requires clean, high-carb energy. Most teahouses feature an extensive menu including:
The Sherpa Power:Dal Bhat (Lentil soup, rice, and vegetable curry)—nutritious, filling, and comes with free refills!

Global Staples: Fried rice, garlic noodles, handmade pasta, and hot potato dishes.

Breakfast Favorites: Warm porridges, fresh pancakes, eggs cooked to order, toast, and hot tea or freshly brewed coffee.

🚫 Travers Safety Advisory: Your package fully includes Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner during the trek. We strictly recommend drinking 3–4 liters of water daily and completely avoiding alcohol at higher altitudes to combat dehydration.

Everest Base Camp Trek Difficulty
The Everest Base Camp Trek is considered moderate to challenging. It does not require technical climbing skills, but it does demand good physical fitness, mental determination, and the ability to walk for multiple days at high altitude.
Trekkers should be prepared for:
1)Walking 5–8 hours per day
2)Consecutive trekking days
3)Rocky and uneven mountain trails
4)Cold temperatures, especially in the mornings and nights
5)High altitude above 5,000 meters
6)Basic accommodation in remote areas
The most challenging aspect of the trek is usually altitude, not the trail itself. That is why acclimatization days and proper pacing are extremely important.

Understanding Trek Difficulty & Physical Preparation

The Everest Base Camp Trek is classified asModerate to Challenging. While it requires zero technical climbing or mountaineering skills, it demands excellent cardiovascular endurance and mental grit.

What to Prepare For:
A)Daily Endurance:Walking 5 to 8 hours daily for consecutive days on rocky, uneven, and steep mountain terrains.

B)The Elements: Freezing alpine temperatures, especially during early mornings and nights.

C)The Ultimate Challenge:Trekking and sleeping at extreme high-altitudes well above 5,000m

🏋️ Your 6-Week Training Blueprint
To fully enjoy your dream trek without exhaustion, we highly recommend starting physical preparation6–8 weeks before arrival:

1. Cardio Conditioning: 3-4 days a week of jogging, swimming, cycling, or stair climbing.

2. Leg Strength: Focused training on squats, lunges, and core stability.

3. Boot Training: Wear your actual trekking boots during training walks to break them in and prevent blisters on the trail.

Altitude Safety & Our Medical Protocol

Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) can affect anyone regardless of age or fitness. At Travers Nepal, safety isn’t just a buzzword—it is engineered into our daily operations.

🩺 Our 4-Tier 5,000m Safety Shield
Daily Oximeter Screenings: Every single evening, your guide will perform a digital pulse oximeter check to monitor your heart rate and oxygen saturation levels ($SpO_2$).

Certified Wilderness First-Responders: Your lead guides are professionally certified in high-altitude medicine, early AMS detection, and emergency mountain handling.

Oxygen & Medical Kits: We carry a fully stocked group medical kit containing essential high-altitude medications (Diamox, Ibuprofen) along with emergency medical oxygen cylinders.

24/7 Standby Helicopter Evacuation: In the rare event of a medical emergency or severe AMS, we maintain an immediate emergency dispatch protocol with premier helicopter rescue operations in Kathmandu.

📅 Choosing Your Season: The Best Time to Trek

Spring (March to May) – Peak Season: Stable weather, clear morning skies, and warm trekking conditions. The lower trails come alive with blooming red rhododendron forests.

Autumn (September to November) – Best Overall View: Fresh post-monsoon air, crisp and crystal-clear panoramic mountain views, and exceptionally stable trekking weather.

Winter (December to February): Beautifully quiet, crowd-free trails, but requires specialized gear to withstand extreme sub-zero temperatures.

Monsoon (June to August): Characterized by rain, muddy trails, and frequent domestic flight disruptions. Not recommended for first-time trekkers

🛃 Permits & Hassle-Free Logistics

Trekkers need the following permits for the Everest Base Camp Trek:

1. Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit
This permit is required to enter the protected area of Sagarmatha National Park, where much of the trek takes place.

2. Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Permit
📂 Relax, We've Got It Covered: Travers Nepal automatically handles the entire paperwork, verification, and permit procurement process for you as a core part of your trekking package.

Transportation for the EBC Trek

The standard Everest Base Camp Trek package includes a Kathmandu–Lukla–Kathmandu flight. Lukla is the main gateway to the Everest region, and the flight is an adventure in itself due to the mountain setting and short runway.

Please note that flights to Lukla can sometimes be delayed or rescheduled due to weather conditions. Travelers should keep a buffer day in Nepal if possible, especially during busy trekking seasons.

Who Can Join This Trek?
This Everest Base Camp Trek package is suitable for:
1)Adventure travelers looking for a classic Himalayan trek
2)First-time trekkers with good fitness and strong motivation
3)Experienced trekkers seeking one of the world’s most iconic routes
4)Solo travelers, couples, friends, and private groups
5)Photographers and nature lovers

What to Expect Today:

After a hearty breakfast at your hotel, we embark on a captivating guided tour of the Kathmandu Valley—a vibrant open-air museum boasting seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Today, we will explore some of the most culturally significant landmarks that showcase the valley's magnificent architecture and deep-rooted spiritual traditions.

Our journey begins at Swayambhunath Stupa (The Monkey Temple), perched high on a hilltop offering a sweeping 360-degree view of the city. Next, we dive into the ancient royal history of Kathmandu Durbar Square, home to intricate wood-carved palaces and the sacred home of the Kumari (the Living Goddess).

In the afternoon, we visit Pashupatinath Temple, one of the most sacred Hindu shrines in the world, located on the banks of the holy Bagmati River. We conclude our day at the massive, peaceful dome of Boudhanath Stupa, the heart of Tibetan Buddhism in Nepal, where you can join the locals walking clockwise around the stupa as the evening butter lamps begin to glow.

We will hike up the steep ridge above Namche to the legendary Hotel Everest View, recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the highest-placed star hotel on Earth. Here, you can sit on the outdoor terrace, sip a warm cup of coffee, and gaze directly at the magnificent panoramic sweep of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and the beautiful Ama Dablam.

The trail descends gently to the riverbed at Phungi Thenga, a small riverside settlement where we will stop for a hot lunch.

After lunch, we cross the suspension bridge and begin a challenging, steep afternoon climb through rhododendron and pine forests. The climb is well rewarded as we reach Tengboche, home to the famous Tengboche Monastery—the largest and most important Buddhist monastery in the Khumbu region. Set against the backdrop of Ama Dablam, this sacred space offers a profound spiritual experience. Depending on our schedule, we may stay in Tengboche or continue slightly downhill for 15 minutes to the quieter, forest-sheltered village of Deboche for a peaceful night's rest.

This is your second scheduled acclimatization day, and it is vital for your journey ahead to Lobuche and Everest Base Camp. To help your body adapt to the thinning air, we take an exhilarating acclimatization hike up Nagarjun Hill (also known as Nangkartshang Peak), situated directly above Dingboche.

The climb is steep and rocky, but you can go entirely at your own pace. As you gain elevation, the views open up spectacularly. From the ridge, you will be rewarded with a breathtaking 360-degree panorama of the Imja Valley. You will get to see the world’s fifth-highest mountain, Mt. Makalu (8,485 m), alongside Lhotse, Chalolatse, Tawache, and an incredible bird's-eye view of Island Peak.

We reach the small settlement of Dughla (Thukla), where we stop for a quick, energizing lunch.

After lunch, we tackle the hardest part of the day: a steep, steady climb up the terminal moraine of the Khumbu Glacier (often called the Thukla Pass). At the top of the pass, we reach the Everest Memorial—a solemn, deeply moving plateau filled with stone chortens and prayer flags dedicated to the brave climbers and Sherpas who lost their lives on Mt. Everest (including legendary climber Scott Fischer). After a moment of quiet reflection, we continue on a gentle, rocky incline alongside the lateral moraine of the glacier until we reach the high-altitude outpost of Lobuche, surrounded by towering ice giants.

Day 10 : Trek to Gorakshep-Everest Base Camp (5365m) - Gorakshep (5180m) | 7/8 hours | (B, L, D)

What to Expect Today:

Today is the big day! We wake up early, excited for the journey to the ultimate destination of our trek. The first half of our hike takes us along the rocky, undulating moraine of the Khumbu Glacier to Gorak Shep, the highest permanent settlement on our route. We will check into our lodge, have a quick and energizing lunch, and leave our heavy duffel bags behind. Carrying only our light daypacks, we begin the historic, emotional trek to Everest Base Camp. The trail weaves through rocky dunes, glacial debris, and active moraines. As we draw closer, the iconic yellow tents of expedition groups begin to appear against the massive, tumbling blocks of the Khumbu Icefall. Standing at 5,364m, you will celebrate this incredible milestone with your fellow trekkers, take unforgettable photos, and soak in the raw power of the surrounding peaks like Nuptse, Pumori, and Lola. After capturing these lifelong memories, we trek back across the glacier to Gorak Shep for a celebratory dinner and a well-deserved night's rest.

Day 11 : Hike from Gorakshep to Kalapathar (5545m) early morning and Trek down to Pheriche (4371m) | 5/6 hours | (B, L, D)

What to Expect Today:
Today, we conquer the highest physical point of our entire adventure! We wake up before dawn in the freezing cold and begin a challenging, steep ascent up Kala Patthar (the "Black Rock"). As we slowly climb, the temperature drops, but the reward is unmatched. Standing on the summit of Kala Patthar at 5,545m, you will witness a legendary Himalayan sunrise. The golden morning light slowly illuminates the colossal south face of Mt. Everest, alongside Nuptse, Lhotse, and Pumori, in a brilliant display of colors. (While Everest cannot be fully seen from Base Camp due to surrounding ridges, Kala Patthar offers the most famous, unobstructed view of the peak). After soaking in this unforgettable panorama, we descend to Gorak Shep for a warm, hearty breakfast. We pack our bags and begin our long descent back down the valley. As we lose altitude, walking becomes significantly easier, and the air feels noticeably richer in oxygen. We trace our steps back through Lobuche and Dughla, finally arriving at the flat, windy valley of Pheriche for a warm meal and a deeply relaxing, comfortable night's sleep.

Day 12 : Trek from Pheriche to Namche Bazaar (3440m) | 5/6 hours | (B, L, D)

What to Expect Today:

Today is a long but incredibly satisfying day of trekking. After a warm breakfast in Pheriche, we begin our descent back down the valley. As we lose altitude, you will notice the air getting thicker, making breathing and walking feel delightfully effortless compared to the last few days.

We cross the Imja River and climb slightly to walk through the traditional villages of Pangboche and Tengboche. We will stop for a hot lunch along the trail, surrounded once again by the beautiful greenery of the pine and rhododendron forests.

After lunch, we make our way down to the riverbed at Phungi Thenga and tackle the final, gradual climb back up the ridge. By late afternoon, we walk back into Namche Bazaar. Returning to Namche feels like returning to civilization! You will have the evening free to celebrate your successful trek with a hot shower, a freshly brewed espresso at a local bakery, or a well-deserved drink at a cozy local pub.

Day 13 : Trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla | 7-8 hours | (B, L, D)

What to Expect Today:

Today marks the final leg of your trekking journey! After breakfast in Namche, we begin a steep descent back down the ridge to the roaring Dudh Koshi River. We cross the iconic Hillary Suspension Bridge one last time and walk through the lush pine forests, passing the official exit gates of Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo.

We stop for a relaxing, celebratory lunch in the village of Phakding, sharing stories of our climb with fellow trekkers heading up the trail.

The afternoon walk is a gradual, steady climb through beautiful Sherpa villages, past carved mani walls and prayer flags, leading us back up to Lukla. Walking back into Lukla brings a wonderful sense of achievement—you have officially completed the Everest Base Camp loop! In the evening, we will gather for a special final dinner with our guides and porters to thank them for their incredible support, toast to our successful journey, and celebrate a lifetime of memories.

🎉 Trek Completed!

You have successfully trekked over 130km/80miles through the heart of the Himalayas, reaching the base of the world's highest peak and returning safely. Time to celebrate!

Day 14 : Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu | (B)

What to Expect Today:

Day 15 : Departure to your beautiful home | (B)
