Overview

Annapurna Base Camp Trek Package – 11 Days

The Annapurna Base Camp Trek is one of Nepal’s most rewarding Himalayan journeys, offering an unforgettable combination of mountain scenery, traditional villages, terraced farmland, forest trails, natural hot springs, and a spectacular high-altitude amphitheater surrounded by some of the world’s most iconic peaks. Located in the heart of the Annapurna region, this trek takes you deep into the Annapurna Sanctuary, where you stand face to face with the magnificent peaks of Annapurna I (8,091 m), Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, and other Himalayan giants.

At Travers Nepal, our Annapurna Base Camp Trek package is carefully designed for trekkers who want a balanced mix of adventure, comfort, culture, and mountain beauty. This classic route leads through charming Gurung and Magar villages, rhododendron forests, stone staircases, glacial rivers, and peaceful mountain landscapes before reaching Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m). Compared to some of Nepal’s more remote high-altitude treks, the ABC trek offers excellent accessibility, comfortable teahouse accommodation, rich cultural interaction, and extraordinary mountain views in a relatively short duration.

Whether you are a first-time trekker in Nepal or a returning traveler looking for a memorable Himalayan trek, the Annapurna Base Camp Trek is one of the best choices. It combines scenic diversity, moderate challenge, and a true sense of Himalayan achievement, making it one of the most popular trekking packages in Nepal.

Trip Overview

The Annapurna Base Camp Trek begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara, Nepal’s beautiful lake city and the gateway to the Annapurna region. From Pokhara, the journey continues to the trailhead, where the trek starts through terraced hillsides, traditional villages, and forested paths. The route passes through beautiful settlements such as Jhinu Danda, Chhomrong, Bamboo, Dovan, Deurali, Machhapuchhre Base Camp, and finally Annapurna Base Camp itself.

One of the most special features of this trek is the dramatic change in landscape. You begin in lower subtropical hills with green forests and village life, gradually moving into alpine terrain and finally entering the spectacular Annapurna Sanctuary, a natural mountain basin surrounded by snow-covered peaks. The sunrise and sunset views from Annapurna Base Camp are among the most beautiful in the Himalayas, with panoramic views in every direction.

This trek also offers a rich cultural experience. The Annapurna region is home to Gurung and Magar communities, known for their hospitality, traditions, and mountain lifestyle. Along the trail, trekkers can experience local teahouse culture, warm meals, traditional settlements, and a peaceful trekking environment. After the trek, many travelers also enjoy the natural hot springs at Jhinu Danda, a relaxing reward after days of mountain walking.

Our Annapurna Base Camp package is planned with proper pacing, experienced local guides, and essential logistics so that you can focus on enjoying the mountains while we take care of the details.

Why Choose This Annapurna Base Camp Trek Package?
The Annapurna Base Camp Trek is one of Nepal’s most popular trekking routes because it offers so much in a relatively short period of time. In just over a week of walking, you can experience traditional mountain villages, terraced farmland, forests, waterfalls, dramatic Himalayan scenery, and the thrill of standing in a natural amphitheater of 7,000–8,000-meter peaks.

At Travers Nepal, we focus on making your ABC trek safe, smooth, and enjoyable from start to finish. Our package is designed with practical pacing, experienced local guidance, permit support, transport arrangements, teahouse accommodation, and personalized assistance before and during the trek. Whether you are traveling solo, with friends, as a couple, or in a private group, we can organize the Annapurna Base Camp Trek in a way that suits your time, comfort level, and travel goals.

If you want a classic Nepal trekking package with incredible scenery, authentic culture, and a professionally managed itinerary, our Annapurna Base Camp Trek package is an excellent choice.

Cost of Annapurna Base Camp Trek Package

The cost of the Annapurna Base Camp Trek depends on factors such as group size, travel season, transport type, hotel category in Kathmandu and Pokhara, private or group service, and the level of support required. In general, the package cost usually includes transportation, permits, guide and porter support, teahouse accommodation during the trek, and meals as specified in the itinerary.

For the latest Annapurna Base Camp Trek cost, group rates, private trip pricing, and customized itinerary options, please contact Travers Nepal directly. We are happy to tailor the package according to your schedule, comfort level, and travel preferences.

Accommodation During the Annapurna Base Camp Trek

Accommodation during the Annapurna Base Camp Trek is mainly in local teahouses and mountain lodges. These teahouses provide simple but comfortable rooms, usually on a twin-sharing basis, with basic beds, pillows, and blankets. In lower villages, facilities are often more comfortable, while in higher locations such as Deurali and Annapurna Base Camp, accommodation is more basic due to the remote mountain environment.

Teahouses also have a common dining hall where trekkers eat, relax, socialize, and warm themselves in the evening. Attached bathrooms may be available in some places at lower elevations, but shared toilets and bathrooms are common throughout the trekking route.

In Kathmandu and Pokhara, accommodation is generally arranged in tourist-standard hotels before and after the trek.

Meals on the Trek

Food is an important part of your trekking experience and overall energy level. During the Annapurna Base Camp Trek, teahouses provide a wide range of meals suitable for trekkers, including both Nepali and international options.
Common meals available on the trek include:
1)Dal Bhat
2)Fried rice
3)Noodles
4)Pasta
5)Soups
6)Potatoes
7)Momos
8)Eggs
9)Porridge
10)Pancakes
11)Bread, tea, and coffee

Our package includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner during the trek. We recommend eating well, drinking enough water, and choosing warm, freshly cooked meals for better energy and acclimatization. Dal Bhat is especially popular among trekkers because it is filling, nutritious, and well-suited for long days of walking.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek Difficulty

The Annapurna Base Camp Trek is generally considered a moderate trek. It does not require technical climbing or mountaineering experience, but it does involve multiple days of walking on mountain trails, stone staircases, uphill climbs, and descents. Trekkers should be prepared to walk 5–7 hours per day, sometimes longer depending on the day’s route and pace.

The trail is physically demanding in places, especially around Chhomrong and on the ascent toward the sanctuary, but it is still achievable for trekkers with a reasonable level of fitness and preparation. The trek is suitable for beginners with good determination as well as experienced trekkers looking for a classic Himalayan route with comfortable teahouse support.

Good physical preparation, a steady pace, and proper rest make the Annapurna Base Camp Trek much more enjoyable and rewarding.

Altitude Sickness on the ABC Trek

Although the Annapurna Base Camp Trek is lower in altitude than Everest Base Camp, altitude still needs to be taken seriously. Annapurna Base Camp sits at 4,130 meters, which is high enough for some trekkers to experience mild symptoms of altitude discomfort.

Common symptoms may include headache, fatigue, shortness of breath, dizziness, or trouble sleeping. To reduce the risk, it is important to walk at a comfortable pace, stay hydrated, eat properly, and communicate with your guide if you feel unwell.

Our itinerary is planned to allow gradual ascent through the Annapurna region, helping your body adapt naturally as you gain elevation. Travers Nepal guides monitor trekkers throughout the journey and always prioritize safety, proper pacing, and informed decision-making in the mountains.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is strongly recommended for the Annapurna Base Camp Trek and should cover high-altitude trekking, medical treatment, trip interruption, and emergency evacuation. Even though the ABC trek is considered moderate and is more accessible than some remote Himalayan routes, it still takes place in mountain terrain where weather, trail conditions, and health situations can change unexpectedly.

Your policy should ideally cover trekking in Nepal up to at least 4,500 meters or higher, including emergency transportation if needed. We recommend purchasing insurance before arriving in Nepal and carrying both printed and digital copies of your policy during the trip.

Weather Condition and Best Time for Annapurna Base Camp Trek

The best time to do the Annapurna Base Camp Trek is during spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). These seasons offer the most stable weather, clearer mountain views, and pleasant trekking conditions.

Spring (March to May)
Spring is one of the most beautiful times for the ABC trek. The weather is generally stable, the temperatures are moderate, and rhododendron forests bloom in many parts of the trail. The views of Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, and surrounding peaks are often spectacular.

Autumn (September to November)
Autumn is another excellent season for trekking to Annapurna Base Camp. After the monsoon, the air is fresh and the mountain views are especially clear. Trails are lively, weather is generally stable, and conditions are ideal for trekking.

Winter (December to February)
Winter trekking is possible and often quieter, but mornings and nights can be cold, and snow may affect higher sections of the trail. Trekkers should be well prepared for low temperatures.

Monsoon (June to August)
The monsoon season brings rain, clouds, muddy trails, and leeches in lower forest sections. While trekking is still possible, views may be limited and trail conditions can be more challenging.

For the best overall experience, we recommend trekking in spring or autumn.

Permits Required for Annapurna Base Camp Trek

Trekkers need the following permits for the Annapurna Base Camp Trek:

1. Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP)
This permit is required to enter the Annapurna Conservation Area, one of Nepal’s most popular trekking regions.

2. TIMS Card / Local Applicable Trekking Permit
Depending on the latest trekking regulations in Nepal, trekkers may require a TIMS card or other locally applicable trekking permit. Travers Nepal will arrange the required permit documentation as part of the package.

Permit rules can change over time, so booking with a local operator helps ensure that all current requirements are handled correctly before the trek begins.

Transportation for the ABC Trek

Transportation for the Annapurna Base Camp Trek usually includes travel between Kathmandu and Pokhara, as well as road transport to the trekking starting point and back from the trek ending point. Depending on your package and budget, the Kathmandu–Pokhara section can be arranged by tourist bus, private vehicle, or domestic flight.

The road journey between Kathmandu and Pokhara offers scenic views but can be long depending on traffic and road conditions. Travelers who prefer a shorter transfer may choose an optional flight between the two cities.

Who Can Join This Trek?
The Annapurna Base Camp Trek is suitable for a wide range of trekkers, including:
A) First-time trekkers with good fitness and motivation
B) Couples, solo travelers, friends, and private groups
C) Adventure travelers looking for a classic Nepal trekking route
D) Nature lovers, photographers, and mountain enthusiasts
E) Travelers with limited time who still want a rewarding Himalayan trekking experience
F) Trekkers who prefer a moderate-altitude trek with strong scenery and teahouse comfort
If you can walk for several hours a day, prepare in advance, and enjoy mountain travel, this trek is a fantastic choice.

How to Prepare for Annapurna Base Camp Trek

To enjoy the trek comfortably, we recommend starting physical preparation 4–6 weeks before the trip. Focus on improving endurance, leg strength, and general stamina.
Good preparation may include:
A) Regular walking or hiking
B) Stair climbing
C) Jogging, cycling, or swimming
D) Light strength training
E) Practicing with a daypack
F) Breaking in trekking shoes before the trip
A positive attitude, flexible mindset, and willingness to walk at a steady pace are just as important as physical training.

Important Note

The Annapurna Base Camp Trek itinerary is a standard guideline and may need to be adjusted depending on weather conditions, trail situations, health considerations, transport delays, or other unforeseen circumstances beyond our control. In the mountains, flexibility is important, and your trekking guide has full authority to make itinerary changes if required for safety, comfort, or operational reasons.

Accommodation in the Annapurna region is in local teahouses with basic but comfortable facilities. Services such as hot showers, Wi-Fi, charging, snacks, and drinks may involve extra cost. Weather in the mountains can change quickly, especially during shoulder and monsoon periods, so trekkers should be prepared with suitable clothing and an open travel mindset.

We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance, proper physical preparation, and at least a small amount of flexibility in your overall Nepal travel schedule.

Excellent

My wife and I went with our guide along the ring route around Annapurna. Both were very satisfied with the organization of the trip. The guide selected convenient places for overnight stays in guest houses, the porter was chosen correctly, throughout the route we received good advice and help from our guide. On the route, due to the circumstances, we had to make changes to the schedule and our guide quickly managed to make changes so that all participants were comfortable to continue moving. Also, in the process of communicating with the guide, we received a lot of useful information about Nepal, its inhabitants, customs and nature. We enjoyed the trip very much and we were very pleased with the impressions received. There are plans to do some more routes with our guide.
